Every Child Deserves Pediatric-Ready Emergency Care
Children have unique healthcare needs, yet most receive emergency care in EDs that primarily care for adults.
Pediatric Readiness helps ensure EDs have the leadership, competencies, policies, equipment, processes, and resources necessary to provide high-quality emergency care to children. But identifying what an ED needs is only part of the work.
ImPACTS helps put Pediatric Readiness into practice by connecting organizations with support, experienced peers, network infrastructure, and practical strategies.
Pediatric Readiness is part of the broader work of the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Program, which brings together national, state, and local partners to strengthen emergency care for children.
Within this broader effort, interconnected initiatives and resources help EDs assess readiness, identify opportunities, implement improvements, measure progress, and sustain change over time.
