Helping bring Pediatric Readiness to life within the ED
Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinators (PECCs) play an important role in helping EDs strengthen and sustain Pediatric Readiness. A PECC serves as a pediatric champion within an ED, helping keep the unique needs of children at the forefront of emergency care and connecting the people, priorities, and activities that support Pediatric Readiness. The role may look different depending on the size, setting, and resources of an ED, but PECCs share a common goal: helping their organization be better prepared to care for children.
What Does a PECC Do?
PECCs help champion Pediatric Readiness within their ED and support efforts to strengthen pediatric emergency care.
Depending on the needs of their organization, PECCs may help:

PECCs don't have to do this work alone. Pediatric Readiness is a team effort, and the PECC helps connect the people and resources needed to move that work forward.
From PECC to PECC Network
PECCs focus primarily on Pediatric Readiness within their own ED. PECC Networks create opportunities for PECCs to extend those connections beyond their individual organizations.
Through a network, PECCs can connect with peers, exchange practical strategies and resources, discuss common challenges, and learn from the experiences of other organizations.
PECC Network Leads help facilitate these connections and create the infrastructure for shared learning and collaboration across participating organizations.
